ABOUT JILL WISEMAN · KATY, TX
Jill Wiseman, MA, LPC-S
Licensed Professional Counselor and Board-approved Clinical Supervisor
Individual and Couples Therapy in Katy, Texas
"After 25 years, I still believe that the right approach can change everything for someone. It's an honor to be part of that transformation, and I absolutely love this work!"

People come in feeling stuck, exhausted, or like they've already tried everything. I show up for every client with the same conviction: that meaningful change is possible, and that the right approach can get you there faster than you might think. I help people move through what's hard and come out the other side feeling genuinely good about their lives.
WHY I DO THIS WORK
I believe every person has the capacity to create meaningful change.
We are all imperfect humans doing the best we can with the knowledge, time, and resources available to us in this moment. That's not a judgment — it's simply the truth. And it's where good therapy starts.
My goal isn't to fix people. It's to help expand what's possible for them — broadening their perspective, building new skills, and making better use of the time and resources they already have. When that happens, options open up. Goals become reachable. Life gets better.
I'm drawn to approaches that actually move the needle — not just talking in circles, but doing work that creates real, lasting relief. That's why I've invested heavily in evidence-based methods like Accelerated Resolution Therapy, which can help people experience meaningful change in just a few sessions. It's also why I keep learning. After 25 years, I'm still genuinely curious about what works and why.
CREDENTIALS & TRAINING
The background behind the work.
I hold a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Houston–Clear Lake and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S) in Texas — meaning I'm licensed both to practice and to supervise other clinicians working toward their own licensure.
I am a Certified Master Practitioner in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), one of the most effective evidence-based approaches available for trauma, anxiety, and distress. I integrate ART with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and practical skill-building to help clients experience real, measurable change. I have training in several other therapy modalities as well, giving me a full toolbox to use with clients.
Supervision and consultation keep me engaged with current research, evolving therapeutic approaches, and best practices in mental health care. There is always something new to learn, and I enjoy bringing those insights back into my work with clients.
MY PATH HERE
A career built on showing up for people in hard moments.
My clinical training took me through the Houston Family Institute, the UHCL Psychological Services Clinic, and the Star of Hope Transitional Living Center. I also facilitated grief support groups at Bo's Place, a nonprofit bereavement center — an experience that shaped how I think about loss, resilience, and the importance of being truly present with someone in pain.
Early in my career I worked as a counselor and administrator at a private K-12 school specializing in students with learning differences and developmental delays — providing direct counseling, family support, case management, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. In 2020, I stepped into the role of Acting Head of School during the COVID-19 pandemic.
That executive leadership experience was meaningful. But it also clarified something I already knew: my passion is meeting people where they are and helping them get to where they want to be. I chose to leave the education field and return to direct client work. In 2023 I opened my private practice — bringing everything I learned across 25 years into a focused, results-oriented approach to helping adults and couples feel better and make positive changes in their lives.
OUTSIDE THE OFFICE
I'm an imperfect human too.
Outside of my counseling work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, playing the French horn in a community band and church orchestra, kayaking, and exploring the outdoors with my adventurous dog. It's fortunate that I enjoy gardening and yard work, find cleaning house to be regulating when stressed, and that my therapy practice schedule provides me the flexibility necessary to be a caretaker for my mother.
In my spare time, I am learning to use AI for website development, bookkeeping and marketing best practices - all necessary to add to my skill base after my career transition. I can't say that I am an aspiring social media star, but I'm doing my best to create more interesting content and courageously post it.
Most of all, I'm doing my best to make life good!
