TELEHEALTH / ONLINE THERAPY

A man looking at a computer screen and smile

At Wiseman Counseling & Therapy, we strive to make mental health services accessible and convenient for clients. Online therapy (telehealth) allows clients to engage in sessions from the comfort of their home or office, with more scheduling flexibility - and no traffic!

Telehealth is not the best option for all clients and not suitable for some mental health needs. We offer this convenience for adult and young adult clients only.

Most insurance plans cover telehealth sessions the same as in person therapy.  This can be verified when you check your coverage

Telehealth Services and Expectations

  • Clients must be in a safe, private and quiet location during the session. (No moving vehicles or public spaces.)

  • Both audio and video must be turned on during the session.

  • Clients will be asked to provide their physical location at the start of each session.

  • Clients need to be able to independently connect to the telehealth session (usually through Zoom).

  • Clients accept the risk that the online session may be disrupted by technical difficulties.

  • Clients must sign a Consent for Telehealth Services agreement explaining more details.

Higher Level of Care. There are many different approaches to psychotherapy, and it is important for clients to find the professional that is the best fit for their needs. Clients who struggle to engage effectively in the therapeutic process due to inattention, environmental distractions, frequent technological difficulties or other reasons may not be appropriate for telehealth services.  Telehealth counseling may not be appropriate for some clients and for the treatment of some mental health issues, including but not limited to: clients experiencing suicidal or homicidal thoughts, actively experiencing psychotic symptoms or any other mental health crisis. If at any time the client and/or therapist believe the client’s clinical issues require alternative treatment (i.e., a different therapist or In Person, face-to-face sessions) or additional resources (i.e., a professional with specialized training or a physician), every effort will be made to assist the client in locating these resources.
